Caucho® Technology releases the Hessian 1.0 specification

-Hessian binary protocol powers web services with multilanguage flexibility

LA JOLLA, CA -- October 20, 2004 -- Caucho® Technology, Inc. announced today the release of the Hessian binary web services protocol version 1.0.

Hessian eliminates the specification explosion of the XML based web service protocols while continuing to treat XML as first class data. Because Hessian is a binary protocol, it is well suited to binary data such as MP3, video on demand and mobile telecommunications.

Scott Ferguson, President of Caucho® Technology, said "We believe Hessian will cut through the web services confusion and let companies develop real web service applications today." Ferguson added, "Hessian can be used for a variety of applications including online gaming, instant messaging and wireless data."

Caucho® has released open source libraries supporting Hessian in the Java and Python programming languages. These libraries will allow developers to create Hessian applications.
