Caucho's Emil Ong to present Resin server-push technology at AjaxWorld LA JOLLA, CA -- February 29, 2008 -- Caucho Technology, Inc., a leading open source Java-PHP application server vendor, today announced that Emil Ong, the company's Chief Evangelist, will be giving a presentation on Resin's server-push technology at the AjaxWorld 2008 Conference in New York City on March 19. Server-push is a client-server technology in which the server sends data without continual prompting from the client. This approach is becoming popular in many applications because it takes the burden from the client to poll the server constantly for new information. Server-push is becoming more important in Rich Internet Applications that offer users a highly interactive experience. Technologies including Ajax and Flash are especially suited to take advantage of server-push. In the world of Ajax, server-push is known as "Comet." At AjaxWorld 2008, Caucho will present a new API and infrastructure for Comet in enterprise applications which takes care of issues such as thread and session management, while using an interface familiar to Java developers who have used JavaEE Servlets. Demos will be presented which use this framework and the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) to streaming data in a financial application. Benchmarks will also be presented which show the server load and network impact of large numbers of clients. This Comet API, part of Caucho's Resin Enterprise Application Server, is now available for download and evaluation. "I am excited to present our server-push technology at AjaxWorld this year," said Emil Ong, Chief Evangelist of Caucho Technology. "At its core, the API we have developed is simple and easy to use while the implementation takes care of all the tricky thread and session issues. This presentation will show how Resin's server-push dovetails into Ajax technologies including the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) to produce Comet applications which need instantaneous updates, such as financial and chat applications." Ong continued, "Of course, the big concern with Comet is that it will eat server resources. We will present how Resin efficiently handles this problem with empirical data on load. The presentation will demonstrate how to do Comet with our API and why Comet is now a viable option for enterprise applications." Steve Montal, CEO of Caucho Technology, said "We look forward to participating in AjaxWorld this year. Emil Ong's presentation will highlight exciting developments in our server-push technology." Montal continued, "As we celebrate our tenth anniversary this year, Caucho continues our focus on industry leading engineering with technologies including server-push, Resin IoC and WebBeans."
