Resin 3.2.0 offers a number of new features targeted at making Java web applications faster, easier to administrate and develop, and more reliable. First among these features, dynamic clustering allows administrators to add and remove servers from a cluster while maintaining the reliability and speed of distributed sessions. This feature helps deployers take advantage of cloud computing environments and/or dynamically provision servers between clusters. The added flexibility offered by dynamic clustering gives users the ability to respond to sudden load spikes, changing demands, and unforeseen outages.

Along with dynamic clustering, Resin 3.2.0 adds the ability to deploy applications remotely. This feature can be used to simplify adding servers dynamically or updating applications in traditional clusters. To improve performance with massive numbers of keepalive clients and Comet applications, Resin now has better socket management which reduces the number of threads necessary on the server. Resin 3.2.0 also features an improved administration application that makes it simple to see the most important information first. Administrators can now monitor the status of servers more easily with new graphing capabilities.

Caucho continues its tradition of groundbreaking new technologies in Resin 3.2.0. Brokered agent messaging (BAM) is introduced in this new version Resin. This architecture abstracts the tested XMPP model to allow for multiple protocols and a unified communication API. For the developers and administrators, this means that they have easy access to messaging, queuing, logging, mail, and even chat/instant messaging all in one coherent framework. Another developer-targeted feature in Resin 3.2.0 is an Ivy-based classloader. Developers can now specify Ivy and Maven repositories as the sources for their dependencies. The latest versions of libraries will be available to the application automatically.

One of the first implementations of the JSF 2.0 draft standard will also be available in Resin 3.2.0. Caucho's JSF implementation makes the developer's job easier by featuring easy debugging tools. Quercus, Caucho's innovative 100% Java implementation of PHP, has also been updated for the latest releases of WordPress, MediaWiki, and Drupal, among other popular PHP applications. BAM support has also been added to Quercus, giving PHP developers the ability to write server applications beyond web pages.
