Caucho to present Quercus and BAM at Silicon Valley Code Camp LA JOLLA, CA -- October 7, 2008 -- Caucho Technology, Inc., a leading open source Java-PHP application server vendor, today announced that Emil Ong, the company's Chief Evangelist, will be giving presentations on Quercus and BAM at the Silicon Valley Code Camp in Los Altos Hills, CA on November 8 and 9. Quercus is Caucho's 100% Java implementation of the PHP language and libraries. Popular applications such as WordPress, Drupal, and MediaWiki are part of the vast base of PHP applications which Quercus brings to the Java platform. Quercus is a high performance implementation of PHP that meets or exceeds the performance of the C PHP implementation with common applications. By leveraging the reliability of Java application servers like Caucho's Resin, PHP applications automatically acquire many of the features necessary for enterprise-readiness. Caucho's BAM is the groundbreaking technology behind the next generation of interactive web applications. By enabling truly bidirectional yet scalable network communication, BAM makes running game, chat, and financial servers from within the Java stack a reality. With implementations in Java, Flex, Flash, and now PHP with more platforms to come, BAM is a portable architecture that is built for interoperability. By making clients full participants in the network infrastructure, BAM creates an environment in which a whole new class of applications can be developed naturally and easily on the web. Emil Ong will present both Quercus and BAM at the Silicon Valley Code Camp 2008. This annual event attracts developers of all types of applications from all around the world to come and engage in highly technical discussions. The talks presenting Caucho's hottest technologies will be of interest to a wide audience including Java, PHP, and Flash/Flex developers creating both traditional web applications and highly interactive Internet applications such as games. In order to make this content available to the greatest number of developers, the organizers have made Code Camp free and scheduled the event outside of work hours. "This year's Code Camp will be a great event and I'm proud to be there to present our Quercus and BAM technologies," said Emil Ong, Chief Evangelist of Caucho Technology. "There is a lot of momentum behind this event with over 500 attendees registered and 88 sessions. This high attendence and excitement will give developers the chance to learn aboutthe most impressive new technologies in web development including what Caucho has to offer." Ong added, "We expect to see a number of Java and PHP developers for whom Quercus will be very attractive. Cutting edge developers with the need for highly interactive applications backed by scalable messaging technology will be interested to learn about Caucho's BAM." Steve Montal, CEO of Caucho Technology, said "We look forward to participating in the Silicon Valley Code Camp this year. Quercus has become more stable, faster, and more widely adopted in the three years since its release. BAM is our newest technology and one of our most exciting because of its appeal to game developers. Emil Ong's presentations will not only explain the fundamentals, but will also delve into the technical details that Code Camp attendees expect." Montal continued, "As we celebrate our tenth anniversary this year, Caucho continues our focus on industry leading engineering with technologies including Quercus, Resin, and BAM."
