ePeoplePlace deploys on Resin application server
LA JOLLA, CA -- January 13, 2003 -- Caucho® Technology, Inc. today announced that ePeoplePlace, a community meeting web site produced by Advanced Web Projects will deploy on Resin application server.
Caucho® Technology produces Resin, a leading application server with the fastest servlet and JSP engine. Resin is used by thousands of corporate, education and government clients including the Toronto Stock Exchange, Salesforce.com, EBay's half.com and AltaVista.
Tom Bloomfield, CTO of Advanced Web Projects said, "We currently use Resin as the servlet container for ePeoplePlace, and plan to scale Resin as the site grows." Bloomfield added, "Our site can handle an estimated 300,000 member profiles under nominal load, so we're estimating one server per every 100,000 users, primarily due to the massive data storage and traffic we require. In evaluating application servers, we found Resin to provide the best performance, scalability and most cost effective solution in the market."
ePeoplePlace provides a centralized location for members to meet, email,
chat and instant message other users in a safe, secure environment. Members
may search or browse member profiles, and view pictures, reflections, and
articles. Featuring a customizable site display, communication tools, and a
friendly, supportive staff that use the services they develop, ePeoplePlace
provides a unique community to meet others for friendship, dating,
friendship, romance, and more.
"We are excited to have ePeoplePlace launch on Resin," said Steve Montal, Director of Sales at Caucho® Technology. "ePeoplePlace is an exciting and growing community with numerous technology requirements including scalability, data storage and performance that makes Resin an excellent application server meet their demands," added Montal.
Caucho® Technology's Resin product line includes support for the latest specifications of all major protocols including HTTP, JSP, servlet, XML, CMP and EJB. With numerous added features, increased performance and load balancing, Resin is experiencing rapid growth in customers worldwide.
Caucho® is active in web services and has support for Apache SOAP. Caucho® has developed the Hessian binary protocol in an effort to produce fast solutions for the rapidly expanding web services arena. Caucho's partners include NTT Data Intramart, Divine, AltaVista and eGain Communications.
