MARCH 2010 NEWS
Resin: Light-footed Java EE, presented by keynote speaker Reza Rahman
Wednesday, March 17 from 11:45am – 12:25pm, Reza Rahman will present a hands-on introduction to the Resin application server. Resin is targeted to provide a lightweight and powerful implementation of Java EE 6 Web Profile. Reza will discuss the composition of the Web Profile which includes Servlet 3, EJB 3.1 Lite, CDI, JPA, JSF 2 and Bean Validation. In addition to the Web Profile, Resin includes asynchronous processing, Hessian Remoting, JMS and scheduled tasks. Beyond the technical outline, Reza will demonstrate to the Java community why Resin is the lightweight Java EE 6 application server of choice.
If you are attending TheServerSide Java Symposium in the next week, please be sure to attend Reza’s keynote presentation. We are excited to share our current development and show you the importance of a lightweight and powerful Resin application server.

TECH TALK
Jigsaw and CDI: a perfect fit
The language-level approach that Jigsaw is taking is well-suited to integration with Java CDI. As you may know, Caucho is a major supporter of the Java CDI specification and we are working on our own implementation, called CanDI.
One of the most important aspects of a module system is inter-module connectivity. Using CDI, we can address this problem using annotation based injection. This will allow you to get the right object where you need it and directly from one of the modules on which you depend. Read the complete blog post to get a concrete depiction of our conclusion to why Jigsaw and CDI is a perfect fit.

TIP OF THE MONTH
Efficient application management by launching Resin and the Watchdog
In Resin 4.0 the Watchdog architecture changed from a single to a double JVM model; one for the Resin processes and the other for the Watchdog. As an important reliability and management feature of Resin, the Watchdog is responsible for starting, stopping and monitoring Resin processes. This blog post discusses the Watchdog architecture, how it affects the startup and runtime of Resin and how to remedy some common problems.
