Caucho Technology announces release of Resin 4.0 Application Server

LA JOLLA, CA — June 1, 2009 – Caucho Technology today announced release of v4.0 of it’s popular Resin application server and achievement of compliance with Specifications for Java” Servlet 2.5, JavaServer Pages” (JSP”) technology 2.1, JSTL 1.2 and JSF 1.2. When Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 (”Java EE platform 6″) becomes generally available later this year, Caucho plans to provide a compatible implementation of the complete Java EE platform web profile.

Resin 4.0, which will be officially released during the JavaOne conference in San Francisco, caps a ten year record of leadership by Caucho in the Java community. Resin 4.0 features will include:

  • Technology compatibility kit (TCK) compliance for Java Servlet, JSP technology , JSTL and JSF
  • Cloud computing support for distributed caching with dynamic servers
  • Remote deployment to entire clouds
  • Early access Implementation of JSR 299 - Contexts and Dependency Injection
  • Pomegranate dependency resolution based on Maven

“Resin 4.0 is a significant step forward, providing developers with a formidable set of tools for Java software and PHP” stated Steve Montal, Caucho Technology CEO. “Cloud features in Resin 4.0 make it possible for developers to write their code to a standard API, yet employ massive scalability features like dynamic server addition and removal, distributed sessions, distributed caching, and cloud-wide deployment, plus Resin’s TCK compliance for Java Servlet, JSP technology, JSTL and JSF marks a milestone for both Caucho and the Java EE community,” he added.

Resin 4.0 has achieved an important milestone by successfully demonstrating its compatibility with the Java Servlet 2.5, JSTL 1.2, JSP 2.1 and JSF 1.2 specifications,” said Anil Gaur, director of Java EE Platform Engineering at Sun Microsystems. “Caucho’s Resin and Quercus products offer significant value to Web developers. We look forward to seeing Resin become fully compatible with the Java EE 6 Web Profile specification when it becomes available.”

In addition to core Java EE capabilities, developers using Resin can also start using an early access implementation of JSR-299, for producing dependency injection frameworks. Caucho has long been an advocate and market leader in promoting content and dependency injection. Although JSR-299 has not yet reached Final Spec stage, Resin developers can benefit from early access to this important new JSR.
