Differences between hessian versions [java] ?

Is there any documentation available what has changed between the
various hessian versions for java ?
We're currently wondering if upgrading to the 3.x relaese can be justified.
(The switch to java 1.5 would be difficult regarding that many of our
customers are still working with 1.4.)
