Re: Eclipse plugins...

That's a delicate question :-)
I'm a happy netbeans user. I liked what I saw in the initial version of
Eclipse, but at the time (late last year) they did not have too many modules
available. For example Netbeans has cool JSP editors and other goodies.
Meanwhile there are huge debates whether it was a smart move by IBM to
implement their own "AWT" or if they should have supported other open-source
projects instead...Eclipse runs on a new toolkit called "SWT", a new
windowing toolkit that has some native code in it to speed it up.

Apparently the big improvement over other editors is better support to
refactoring in Eclipse and the open, modular framework (I still don't see
why it's "more modular" than netbeans for that matter...). The IDE with the
highest coolnes factor at the moment I think is IDEA from IntelliJ. It's
costs some money, but it's really loved by its supporters. Very strong
refactoring features and innovative workspace management makes it quite
popular.

So, if you have time probably it's worth a try. Again, module support is
essential. The other teams are not sleeping either ;-)
