Hi,

We have also experienced something similar using a different Java
application, where some of our threads mysteriously died, and caused the
CPU utilization to drop to 0.0%. The Thread that kept on dropping was our
role your own logging, and this would also cause random core dumps. JDK
1.3.1_05 resolved this issue for us, so it is probably very worth wile
looking into upgrading to the latest 1.3.1 or even moving to a 1.4.0
release to see if it resolves the issue.

Is it possible to reproduce this in a non production environment?

Damien
