OK great got it working --
FYI to anyone using 3.0 the attribute name "dir" used 2.1 to specify the
location of the disk cache has changed and is now "path"

Many thanks. On stepping thru the docs in 3.0 tree on the site I cant
find this documented it only mentions a cache-mapping attribute which
wasn't what I wanted.
